Kristel Displays uses 3M MicroTouch DST technology in large touchscreen displays

Display manufacturer Kristel Displays is using 3M MicroTouch Dispersive Signal Technology (DST) in its new products, according to 3M Touch Systems, a 3M touch technology subsidiary. We are talking about displays ranging from 32 to 46 inches.

Among the features of DST technology, the company notes the ability to integrate into large displays, fast, reliable and accurate data entry. An interesting feature of DST is the fact that the respective products are insensitive to dirt, scratches and the influence of “static impact” – in other words, the panel does not respond to constant pressing at one point, recognizing only dynamic input. Supports simultaneous input at several points on the screen, opening up the possibility of multi-user work.

The DST principle of operation is to recognize touch by interpreting mechanical vibrations – waves that occur as a result of touching the surface of the screen. The aforementioned features of the technology make it well suited for use in applications such as interactive information systems, signage, virtual product catalogs, message boards, presentation systems for conference rooms and classrooms.
