If a second software, such as 4K Capture Utility tries to access the device, it will not work. This can happen when the capture device is added to a scene in OBS Studio, and then 4K Capture Utility is opened. But when I try to make a scene for it in OBS the only option it gives me for Video Capture Devices are my webcam and “Elgato Helper Device (unavailable)” and I can’t get it to show “Elgato Game Capture HD” or whatever it’s supposed to be – it’s just not there in the list of available devices. The Elgato Game Capture isn’t on while I’m trying in.

No increase in HDD capacity for MacBook Air expected within a year

Apple currently offers a choice of two storage options for the new ultra-thin MacBook Air – a traditional 80GB 1.8 ”hard drive and a 64GB solid state drive. Even during Steve Jobs’s speech at Macworld 2021, when the MacBook Air was first presented to the public, many potential buyers were puzzled by the relatively small capacity of the internal hard drive, which, given the price of the laptop and the availability of 160GB iPod models, could have been more spacious.

However, in reality, everything is not as simple as we would like, and the possibility of upgrading the MacBook Air HDD will have to wait at least until the beginning of next year. The thing is that, having set themselves the goal of achieving the minimum thickness of the novelty, the engineers used an 80GB drive in the MacBook Air, which has one disk and is only 5 mm thick, while the more capacious 1.8 ”HDDs available on the market are 8mm thick, which is already too large to fit inside the case of a new Apple laptop.

Technologies do not stand still, and after a while more capacious HDDs with the right dimensions will most likely be released. So, for example, Toshiba plans to release a 120 GB model next year.

Another option for increasing the capacity of the internal drive (for those, of course, who can afford it) can be the use of an SSD – for example, Samsung recently announced the release of a 128 GB model of such a drive in the first half of this year. True, incompatibility can become a problem here – the new SSD will use the Serial ATA interface, while the older Parallel ATA is used in the MacBook Air.
