SkyCross iMAT: An antenna to revolutionize wireless communications?
Wireless technology company SkyCross unveils Isolated Mode Antenna Technology (iMAT). The company itself calls iMAT nothing more than a “revolutionary campaign”. It is argued that the implementation of the development can provide significant benefits to developers and manufacturers of devices, network operators and end users.
The antenna is, in fact, the only element of the mobile device that directly interacts with the wireless network. At the heart of the iMAT technology, for which, by the way, a patent was obtained, lies, in the words of the developer, an illogical, built contrary to intuitive ideas, solution. It is this non-standard approach that has led to the high technical performance of the antenna: high gain and high sensitivity.
According to the company, designers and manufacturers of telephones, expansion cards for PCs, devices with USB-connection, navigators and other electronic equipment, iMAT will provide the ability to implement communication using diversity or multi-channel input and output (MIMO), even in cases where such an implementation was considered impossible due to the space constraints associated with the portability of the devices. Traditionally, in MIMO technology, multiple antennas are located at both the transmitting and receiving end to improve the performance of the communication channel.
