Intel postpones launch of its budget PC platform

According to a source citing PC makers, Intel has decided to postpone the Basic Platform release earlier than planned. Instead of the third quarter, the debut date of the mentioned development is called May of the current year.

The Shelton’08 desktop platform will include a choice of two 45nm Diamondville processors: a single-core 230 model running at 1.6GHz with 533MHz FSB and 512KB cache; and a dual-core model, the characteristics of which have not yet been named.

Shelton’08 notebook variant will include a single-core N270 processor (Diamondville core). Other key components of Shelton’08 are the 945GSE (North) and ICH7-M (South) bridges.
