ColorChip Introduces Meteor III Transceiver for GEPON Networks

At Fiber Optics Expo (FOE) 2021 in Tokyo, ColorChip announced that it is shipping a Meteor III (PX10 Triplexer) transceiver for use on GEPON (Passive Fiber Optic Networks based on Gigabit Ethernet) networks, which are part of the Fiber To infrastructure. The Home (FTTH).

According to the manufacturer, the digital receiving part of the device has a sensitivity of at least -26.5 dBm, and the analog one, designed to receive video signals at frequencies up to 870 MHz, has a signal-to-noise ratio of 46 dB (the picture shows the previous model Meteor II).

Interestingly, the basis for the transceiver was the conceptual development of SystemOnGlass (SOG), created by the specialists of ColorChip. Its application is said to have made it possible to simplify the design of the device and the technological process of its production in comparison with those that are usually used. An additional video channel is integrated into the main chip, which provides an advantage, both from a technical and economic point of view.
