Freescale launches new MEMS 200mm wafer line
The need for mass production of products that use microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology is increasing as the MEMS sensor market grows. With over 25 years of experience in these products, Freescale Semiconductor is one of the premier suppliers of MEMS sensors, including acceleration and pressure sensors.
To expand its capabilities for the production of these products, the company launched a new production facility designed for 200-mm plates. The production line is located at the Freescale factory in Texas. Previously, MEMS manufacturing focused on a 150mm wafer line located in Japan.
Recall that MEMS technology literally revolutionized the production of sensors. It is based on the use of a unique combination of electrical and mechanical properties of semiconductor materials.
