Swedish company UpZide Labs AB and American Tensilica announced “expansion of business relationship”. As part of the collaboration, UpZide will market a development called Vectorized VDSL2, which uses over 50 configurable Xtensa LX2 processor cores. Vectorized VDSL2 is said to be a key technology component that will enable the simultaneous transmission of VoIP (Voice over the Internet), VoD (Video on Demand) and HDTV (High Definition Television) over standard telephone lines.
The solution proposed by UpZide specialists is based on the existing and deployed VDSL2 infrastructure, which will significantly increase the exchange rates and coverage area using existing copper cable networks.
