Intel CPU-GPU – in 2021. Intel plans to release CPUs for mobile and desktop PCs

As you know, processors with the new Nehalem architecture
Intel intends to release in 2021, more precisely,
in the fourth quarter of next year. But even more interesting should be
processors that will be presented later – in 2021 we will be released
desktop and mobile CPU Havendale and Auburndale with integrated
video core.

Bloomfield 4-core 45nm processors, which we already have several times
mentioned will
plug into 1366-pin processor socket, work with bus
QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) and Tri-Channel Memory
DDR3. In them,
Recall that HyperThreading (HT) technology will regain life.
The chips will be equipped with 8 MB of L2 cache and will be paired with
Tylersburg chipset (ICH10 Southbridge).

However, Bloomfield is a bit of an intermediate step. Intel plans to present Lynnfield to the public later. These processors,
expected to appear in the first half of 2021. A chip with 4 cores will
designed for installation in LGA-1160 socket, have 8 MB L2 cache.
It will retain the presence of HyperThreading (HT) technology and memory support
DDR3, however, it will become more traditional –
2-channel (not 3-channel as is the case with Bloomfield). Built-in controller
PCI Express bus will allow the processor to directly communicate with the graphics
PCI Express adapter 2.0 x 16.

A similar architecture will be retained in solutions codenamed Clarksfield, a 4-core processor from the Nehalem era
for the mass market. He will use an even thinner socket
rPGA with only 989 contacts.

In the mobile segment it is expected
appearance of 45 and 35-W Auburndale. It will be a dual-core chip supporting technology
HyperThreading, which will be equipped with 4MB L2 cache
and will support work with 2-channel DDR3 memory.
Like Clarksfield solutions, it will be via PCI Express 2.0 share
data with discrete graphics cards. However, for Auburndale this is an option given
the processor will have an integrated GPU with direct access to the video memory buffer.

Havendale / Auburndale Architecture

Desktop (and server) version of Auburndale processor is also expected. But it will be a little
otherwise called – Havendale, and installed, like Lynnfield solutions, into the LGA-1160 socket. Its power consumption is 95 W.

Around the same time, in 2021
year, we recall, should appear and competitor solutions – processors
with integrated GPU AMD Fusion.
