XFX: GeForce 9800 GX2 video adapter and nForce 790i Ultra SLI motherboard
XFX has introduced a video card based on NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 under its trademark. The adapter integrates two GeForce 9800 GPUs for a total of 256 stream processors. Like counterparts from other manufacturers, the new product is equipped with 1 GB of GDDR3 memory (2×512 MB) with access via two 256-bit buses. All this allows the new flagship to exceed the performance of the GeForce 8800 Ultra by up to 50% – the manufacturer says. Is this really so, it is too early to say. The frequencies of the processor core and memory are not reported, but it can be assumed that they operate at the reference 600 MHz and 2 GHz, respectively.
The card uses PCI Express 2 bus architecture.0, supports DirectX 10 and OpenGL 2 technologies.1, as well as hardware video acceleration in H formats.264, VC-1, WMV, MPEG-2 HD and SD.
As an “ideal partner” for the new product, XFX presented the XFX nForce 790i Ultra SLI motherboard, which supports the ability to install three video adapters at the same time (3-way SLI), has passed the ESA certification and is able to work with DDR3 SLI-Ready memory with EPP 2.0.
