Leader has changed among LCD monitor suppliers
According to analyst company DisplaySearch, which summarized the results of the third quarter, there have been changes in the list of the world’s largest suppliers of LCD monitors.
Main news – South Korean company Samsung returned to first place after a long break. She last topped the list in Q4 2021. All subsequent time, the leader’s jersey was not taken off by Dell.
Experts explain the return of Samsung to the place of the leader with the arrival of a new wave of modernization. Because Dell ships its own brand of LCD monitors as part of its PCs, its strong market position in the off-the-shelf PC market has allowed the company to perform well quarter after quarter. Over time, there has been a tendency for users to migrate from LCD monitors purchased with a computer to models with a larger screen diagonal and widescreen models.
As a result, the advantage was again on the side of companies supplying monitors as separate devices. This situation already took place during the transition from CRT to LCD models, when the market was dominated by NEC, NEC-Mitsubishi, Hitachi and Samsung.
Samsung now controls 14.4% of the market, Dell is second with 13.2%. Positions in the top five, after Samsung and Dell, were also taken by HP, LG and Acer, which own 10.6%, 9.1% and 7.5% of the market, respectively. All other suppliers account for less than half, or rather 45.2% of the market.
The region that includes Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) was the leader in terms of growth. The total volume of shipments in the countries of this region increased by 20% in the quarter.
