Raza Microelectronics (RMI), a communications and consumer electronics processor, has announced support for Intel’s next-generation PCI Express (Geneseo) technology in its XLR and XLS product families.
High-performance RMI solutions bearing the Scalable Processor Solutions brand can be integrated with the Intel platform. An example of such integration – the XLR532 PCIX-I Card – the company showed at the Intel Developer’s Forum, which ended in San Francisco on September 20.
The XLR 532 processor includes cores capable of executing up to 32 threads or virtual CPUs (vCPU). The XLR configuration includes eight MIPS64-compatible cores, each executing up to four threads; tiered cache, four Security Acceleration Engines (SAE), and direct internal connections for data and messages. Processor clock speed – 800 MHz – 1.2 GHz. 2MB L2 cache can be addressed by any of eight cores. Processors support DDR and DDR2 memory operating at frequencies up to 800 MHz (4 data buses of 36 bits, total width – 144 bits). XLR 532 is available in 1605-pin BGA packages.
The main areas of application for high-performance multi-core processors are data protection applications, web services, virtualized storage, smart switches and other networking equipment.
