ASUS is not going to cut production of notebooks on the AMD platform and plans to move production to Vietnam

ASUSTeK Computer has denied previously published information that it allegedly plans to reduce the share of notebooks with AMD processors to 10% next year.

Recall, with reference to sources within the company, it was reported that ASUSTeK Computer intends to significantly reduce the release of mobile PCs on the AMD platform, while increasing the share of products on the Intel platform.

According to the source, the situation has cleared up. The official representative of the company said that the share of notebooks on the AMD platform will remain within 18-22%. He noted that there is demand for both platforms, and ASUSTeK Computer will maintain the ratio between laptops built on different platforms, corresponding to the distribution of demand.

Considering that ASUSTeK Computer expects to take a place in the world’s five largest laptop suppliers by 2021, the decision to maintain a balanced range seems to be quite justified.

Another piece of news is related to the plans of ASUSTeK Computer: due to changes in the labor legislation of China, which come into force next year, the company plans to transfer part of its production to neighboring Vietnam. The source claims the Vietnamese government has pledged to provide preferential terms to persuade ASUSTeK Computer to consider such a move. As a result, there may be an ASUS branch in Vietnam that produces PC components (Pegatron Technology). In case of a positive solution to the issue, according to observers, other Taiwanese manufacturers may follow the example of ASUSTeK Computer.
