First look at the GeForce 8800 GS 384MB / 768MB: it’s still GPU G92

Expreview has published the first photos and specifications of upcoming NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphics cards.

Contrary to our assumptions, the cards are based on a slightly modified G92 GPU, namely the G92-150.

The number of stream processors for such cards will not be 96, as was supposed earlier, but 112. The memory bus will be 192-bit due to the fact that only six memory chips are soldered on the board (12 for the 768-MB version). Depending on their size, the cards will be equipped with either 384 or 768 MB of GDDR3 video memory.

The frequencies of the youngest model, GeForce 8800 GS 384MB, will be 575/1438/1700 MHz (chip / shader unit / memory). The older model will be slightly faster – 650/1625/1900 MHz.

The photographs show the product of the Yeston company, which is not represented on our market. The card itself is produced for her by Palit. In addition to these companies, similar accelerators, according to the source, are being prepared at Unika and Gainwand.

In the Chinese market, prices for the GeForce 8800 GS 384MB / 768MB will be 164/204 dollars.
