ASUS P5E3 Premium WiFi-AP @n and Rampage Formula, motherboards on the Intel X48 chipset

Apparently, it is not long before the release of the first products based on the controversial set of Intel X48 Express system logic.

Let us remind you that it was ASUS who was called involved in the delay in the release of X48 to the market, but now everything seems to be behind us and new flagships among motherboards are about to appear on sale.

The VR-Zone resource managed to get information about such ASUS products a little earlier than the official announcement.

P5E3 Premium WiFi-AP @n (it is interesting that the same model is already being produced by ASUS based on X38 Express, perhaps the manufacturer decided not to attract much attention to the transition to the new chipset?) and Rampage Formula will support Intel 45nm processors up to 1600MHz FSB and DDR3 memory up to 2GHz.

Both new products will offer users energy-saving technology Energy Processing Unit, similar to the one that GIGABYTE recently talked about. According to ASUS measurements, the power consumption of the processor can be saved by up to 80% thanks to EPU.

It is also interesting to use the Express Gate application implemented in the P5E3 Premium WiFi-AP, which will allow you to access the Internet, mail, VoIP telephony within 5 seconds after turning on the PC, without waiting for the OS to load.

Also, this board has a built-in Wi-Fi 802 wireless controller.11n, which is reflected in its name.

The P5E3 Premium WiFi-AP has three full-height PCI Express 2 interfaces.0 x16, one of which operates in x4 mode, while Rampage Formula has only two, but three PCIe x1 instead of one. PCI slots for two boards.

The advantages of Rampage Formula include the fact that 8-channel audio is implemented on a discrete SupremeFX board, there are two eSATA ports, as well as a full set of firmware for overclocking, fine tuning and monitoring the system status.

Finally, the P5E3 Premium WiFi-AP @n and Rampage Formula will offer customers six SATAII ports and two Gigabit NICs each.

In addition to all of the above, both boards are made to a high quality level, which implies an 8-phase power supply design, solid electrolyte capacitors, ferrite core chokes, etc.P.

Prices have not yet been announced, but there is hardly any doubt that these ASUS products will be more expensive than inexpensive Eee PC notebook models from the same manufacturer.
