Citrix: Citrix Provisioning Server released
Citrix Systems Announces Official Release of New Citrix Provisioning Server Solution. Based on innovative OS delivery technology acquired in the context of the acquisition of Ardence, Inc., last January 2021, Provisioning Server enables IT companies to dynamically and centrally deliver operating systems for virtual and physical desktops and data centers. The new solution enables faster and more efficient delivery of desktop and applications, and perfectly complements the recently announced takeover of virtual infrastructure solutions provider XenSource.
Enterprise IT managers are currently challenged to reduce data center operating costs and improve IT efficiency by reducing the number of servers, reducing maintenance costs, and increasing productivity. Provisioning Server will enable companies to stream delivery of server operating systems and applications from network storage to physical or virtual data center servers, and desktop OS and applications on demand for virtual desktops and diskless PCs connected to the LAN. Rather than physically loading the operating system and applications on each server, Provisioning Server delivers them on demand, thereby increasing IT agility, reducing the need for secondary servers, reducing energy consumption, and simplifying IT resource management.
As virtualization technology penetrates deeper into our lives, there is a growing demand for end-to-end, integrated virtual infrastructure solutions that include both reliable and secure delivery mechanisms and automated support for desktops and datacenters. Citrix offers these technologies to companies that constitute a global virtualization infrastructure that makes the computing environment more agile, agile, and ready for business change.
Citrix Provisioning Server will be sold through company channels globally, offering many benefits to existing Citrix application delivery infrastructure users.
- Customers using Citrix Presentation Server to deliver Windows applications will have the ability to stream delivery of operating systems and applications from a single source. This structure simplifies OS and server upgrades, compatibility tests and server repurposing, while reducing the number of secondary servers required.
- Customers using Citrix NetScaler to deliver Web applications will have the ability to stream operating systems and applications on demand to endpoint Web servers and application servers, eliminating the need to install, patch, and update OS and software on each server.
- Customers leveraging server and desktop virtualization solutions from the XenSource takeover will be able to deliver virtual servers and desktops in a datacenter context.
- Clients operating in multi-user environments and high security systems will be able to stream desktop delivery to diskless computers on the network.
