Apple is going to sell software for the iPhone?

9to5mac website reports that several software vendors are already working with Apple to release official apps for the OS X operating system of the iPhone mobile phone. Among them is Electronic Arts, which adapts existing iPod games for the iPhone.

9to5mac predicts Apple will distribute iPhone apps in a model similar to the T-Mobile Sidekick. Third-party developers provide T-Mobile with their applications for testing, and if the company finds them stable, secure and potentially interesting for customers, users can download them using the integrated service and pay at the end of the month along with their phone bill.

Based on this, it should not be surprising that Apple, having released a recent firmware update, banned the installation of unofficial applications for iPhone OS X. Most likely, the company will continue to make every effort to direct the development of software for the iPhone in the “official” direction.
