Seoul Semiconductor Launches “World’s Brightest LED” – 420 Lumens Threshold Taken

Seoul Semiconductor, which achieved 240 lumens for a single LED less than a year ago, has set another record. New LED (pictured on the left) produces 420 lumens. According to the company, this is the highest value in the world among single LEDs. For comparison – commercially available LEDs (in the photo – on the right) are capable of creating a maximum luminous flux of about 100 lumens.

LED power – 8 W. The value of 420 lm is the maximum for it, achieved at a current of 600 mA. Typical luminous flux is 350 lm. As you can see in the illustration, the new light source is no larger than conventional LEDs. This opens up broad prospects for the application of the development, the source notes.

Applications include residential lighting, automotive lighting, architectural lighting, lanterns, street lighting, signs and information signs. Seoul Semiconductor’s new LEDs commercially due in Q4.
