AMD has prepared the first adapter on the RV635 chip with DisplayPort support
As previously reported, the new VESA (Video Electronics Standards
Association) for video output, DisplayPort, will soon appear on video adapters
new generation and will gradually replace DVI and
VGA, widely used today.
DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D
AMD, as reported by a number of resources on the web,
prepared my first adapter based on
RV635 XT, with DisplayPort support.
The new interface has much more bandwidth and will make it easier to
create multi-monitor configurations. Like HDMI,
DisplayPort allows video and audio to be carried over a single cable
– 24-bit 8-channel.
HDMI and DisplayPort multimedia interfaces,
most likely, they will still coexist together on
market, rather than compete, since HDMI is more focused on everyone
kind of set-top boxes, DVD players, plasma panels,
used in low profile adapters to create HTPC.
Perhaps next year NVIDIA will also
will release its DisplayPort adapter.
