SiTime Designed the Industry’s Thinnest 0.4mm Programmable Cavity
SiTime Corp. of resonators using MEMS (Micro Electromechanical Systems) technology unveils the industry’s smallest product in this category. The new product, designated SiT8002UT, has a thickness of 0.4 mm, which is 50% thinner than the thinnest resonators for similar purposes on the market.
Thin and mechanically robust resonators with high stability are a dream come true for designers of miniature electronic devices, constantly faced with limitations on the size of the components used. Quartz and piezoceramic resonators are susceptible to mechanical damage and have a large frequency spread.
SiTime has developed SiRes technology based on the use of MEMS, which allows you to create highly stable, compact and resistant to mechanical stress resonators. According to SiTime, they can withstand shocks up to 30,000 g, vibration up to 40 g with a frequency of 5 to 20 kHz. Since SiRes resonators use standard plates for the CMOS SOI process technology, the thickness of these products is significantly less than the thickness of quartz and piezoceramic resonators.
The SiT8002UT generator can be factory programmed to any frequency within 1-125 MHz, provides high frequency stability and is designed to operate in the so-called industrial temperature range (-40 to + 85 ° C).
